Construction Defect Litigation Testimonials
Thank you for the delivery, and for your efforts on our behalf. We appreciate your counsel.
This effort played out very much as you described when we first met back in October, 2022.
Thank you for your patience with my seemingly never ending questions, and for your persistence in getting this across the finish line.
– Padraic
Thank you so much for all of your hard work on bringing home a WIN for us all: Chris, Anne, Riele and all of the homeowners who participated!
You are all AMAZING!! 😊
– Teresa R
Holy crap!
This is so amazing! CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU! Your hard work and dedication made this happen. I know when Chris and I spoke after I testified he mentioned how huge it would be to beat not only LGI, but these “amazing” lawyers they hired. You did it! I just wanted to say how grateful I am, thank you both!
– Rebekah E
Chris, thank you for all the work you and your team have done for this case. We truly appreciate you all.
– Noel and Jorein T
Response from Client after hearing we won the lawsuit:
Amazing work Chris and Anne!!! Thank you for all your hard work and diligence! This is amazing news!
– Brandon C
Hi Chris/Anne/Riele & Team,
A great big THANK YOU!! is in order. I don’t think it can be understated what a huge win this was in a very ‘David v. Goliath’ type case. Between all of us in this case– and the walls–I sincerely hope LGI thinks twice in their future dealings, should they decide to continue operate with such blatant disregard for their customers, and the laws of the State of Washington.
– Ellie C
Mr. Casey and Anne,
I’m so thrilled with this outcome. Still in shock at the news that we beat this builder.
I can’t recall how we found you but I’m so grateful we did!
Thank you for all you did to win this case for us, your hard work and skill have paid off in this difficult case.
Thank you for your help in getting us what we deserved.
Best regards,
Iris P-M
Chris is a hard worker and gets the job done never giving up on the difficult task.

Relief – a feeling of reassurance and relaxation following release from anxiety or distress.
I, along with a large group of my neighbors are certainly feeling this today. It does not take away the battle that we have walked through for the last 3+ years, and we know that there is still much to be done to feel the full burden of owning a defective home lifted from our shoulders.
If you are in the Enumclaw area you likely know of our community Suntop Farms. You may have seen us on the news in February of 2021, when it was discovered that there were hidden defects to our new construction homes built by LGI, discovered after a mild windstorm in the area. What was meant to be a joyous purchase, a milestone, and investment. A place that was supposed to be a sanctuary and bring peace, suddenly became a burden, a point of stress and worry, a regret. It was supposed to be “home”.
For three years the wonderful legal team of Casey Law PLLC, fought alongside us and for us as if they themselves were homeowners in our community. The verdict has come in and we have come out victorious! LGI is being held responsible for the defective construction of our homes, and the ruling was also in our favor regarding LGI’s violation of the Consumer Protection Act.
The homes within our community were not built to code based on the Enumclaw City code that requires the envelope of the home (exterior) to withstand wind speeds upto 120mph. The sneaky sales practices, subpar management of construction and the lack of quality provided by LGI can all be shared now.
The families of the 72 homes that participated in this legal action can now breathe a little easier knowing that we can correct the defects to our homes and that LGI will now have a watchful eye on them. We hope this means that no other families will be impacted by LGI’s negligent, corner cutting, dishonest tactics that target first time home buyers and older buyers.
It is hard to find words that convey what my family has felt in the last three years as we find issues with our home from siding to yard flooding and the possibility of more hidden defects, at least I know that LGI has to face the music and take responsibility and my family can begin to make repairs to our home without having to burden the cost ourselves.
– Katie Mikesell
Thank you so much. You are an A+ outfit… It’s very nice to know there are specialty lawyers out there who are competent and respond to questions. You have my gratitude and compliments! :)”
-Randy K
“I just wanted to say thank you for all the work you and your team did on Friday, and for the past two years! It’s nice to know that we are on the road to getting the condos fixed properly!… Thanks Again… “
Dianne Barr, Board President, Mayfield Condominium
“Chris, thanks so much for working for our settlement yesterday, we certainly appreciate it.”
Dawn, Palisade Park Homeowner
On behalf of the board as well as all the homeowners, I would like to extend you a very warm and HUGE THANK YOU! You have been phenomenal in helping us out; patient in answering all our questions and very decisive in your actions. It was a pleasure working with you and having you represent the community. I will definitely not hesitate recommending your legal counsel in case any of my friends are in a similar situation moving forward. Thank you once again!
Dhaval Shah, Homeowner/Board Member Village at 15th
Casey’s actions epitomize the phrase ‘under-promised and over-deliver.’ To say we’re impressed with the results of our litigation against Express is an understatement. Great job guys! Thank you.
Ted Markow, Member Tempo Apartments LLC
“We selected Casey because of their aggressive approach to our problem. Little did we know that we had a PIT BULL for an attorney. Our problem was unique in that our developer did not have insurance. Chris found a way to get around this and once he got his teeth into the developer and sub’s he did not let go. He obtained a satisfactory settlement in mediation in spite of the hurtles we faced.”
Gary Waldner, President Thompson Townhomes
“I received rave reviews about your performance yesterday at the deposition. Kathie Gruskin said you were very well prepared and organized – she was impressed!
Thanks for your hard work! “
Cheryl Robinson, Sinclair HOA
“Dear Chris, I simply want to reiterate our gratitude for all your hard work, and to congratulate you once again on this incredibly successful litigation, you are quite an attorney…you are the best…”
Colleen Rettig, Palisade Park Homeowner
“Chris, My husband and I would like to thank you and the others for all your hard work on our behalf. Without your perseverance this would not have happened. Many of us bought this property under the assumption that we were making a financial investment. The majority of us are not investors that are aware of the laws, and we depend on the “professionals” such as contractors, builders, realtors and brokers to lead us in the right direction. Unfortunately there are those in the world that take advantage of people and their unforeseen misfortune.
You have renewed our faith in our judicial system and we thank you for that!”
Brenda & Nakita Hanley, Palisade Park Homeowners
“The Board interviewed a variety of lawyers–from “by-the-book” to “non-main-stream.” The former required contracts full of legalese and tens of thousands of dollars up-front, and even then, they stated our chances were quite uncertain because their expertise was within 1-4 year statute for water damage under the State’s Condominium Act. They actually turned us down because they preferred a “sure thing.” The latter were willing to pursue damages in the riskier 4-6 year window we found ourselves in; we settled on “Chris” because he agreed to work on contingency and possessed creativity and down-to-earth experience, AND topped our expectations by bringing home in excess of $5,000,000.”
Erich Franz, President Somerset Park Condominiums
“Chris, just wanted to mention how Pam and I appreciated the masterful job you did cross-examining Tom Harader. You know, we were just listening to the testimony, like an old tyme, boring radio play while Tom and Bud talked on and on…
Then you came into the scene, and the energy went way up! You really seemed to have Tom on the ropes–catching him in mis-characterisations, begging him to explain how his 5% contingency was going to cover all the things he had no knowledge of at Madrona Court, and just generally turning up the spotlight on those goofy guys.
I think our side has done really well in the ‘likeability’ sweepstakes. You and Mark and all of us charming homeowners on one side vs. Charlie gazing at the ceiling when he’s asked stuff and boring old Tom on the video tape–which didn’t work all that well, ending with Mutt and Jeff reading in the deposition at the end–that seemed REALLY lame.
Here’s hoping we’ll be able to capitalize on your terrific work with Tom and all the preparation you have done to really highlight the lack of knowledge, foundation and understanding on the defense for what it will really cost to make us whole.”
Board Member, Madrona Court Townhomes
“The Casey Law Firm never gave up, they fought for us for five years. We filed a suit in 2004. Even though our lawsuit was thrown out of court two times over five years based on technicalities, Chris Casey never gave up or gave in. He fought for us; including filing two appeals to get our case reinstated. We won each time and, as a result, the Court of Appeals clarified previous conflicting decisions on the implied warranty of habitability in our favor and published its opinion, which will help all of Washington State’s homeowners. Thank you Chris for never giving up on us, not many would have stayed to see this through.”
Carol Vipperman, President, Westlake View Condominium Association
“Even though you are pros, the board and plaintiffs at Westview Estates sometimes felt as if we were engaged in a David versus Goliath battle against some very high-powered and well-financed players. Despite all the evidence supporting our cause, would we prevail in getting the remediation we needed to protect our investments? We shouldn’t have worried. You left no stone unturned and fought for us every step of the way, achieving a settlement that was as good as any we could have hoped for. Thanks for your thorough and aggressive work on our behalf.”
Anita Thompson, Westview Estates HOA President
“Dear Chris and Sarah,
I just wanted to formally thank your firm for the excellent service you recently rendered our homeowners association in our remediation suit against the developers of our building. It took us five years but you never gave up or flagged during some very trying times. My interactions with you were always friendly, helpful and courteous; and most important, your client communications were prompt and informative. Your service provider referrals were excellent in John Petrie, and we were all pleased by the outcome of the suit. You guys give the lie to all those lawyer jokes.”
Alice Gilbert, Ballard Condominium Association
“Chris, firstly I want to congratulate you and your team. I know that some clients in particular require more hand holding, and your work on this one was superb. I also want to thank you for your support to Mark and myself. I think we had a good team going with this property. Moving forward, I am going to follow your advice and contact the Board next week. Hopefully they will be ready to move forward with the needed repairs.”
Martin Flores, Principal, Dimensional Building Consultants – Forensic Building Inspections
“Chris, it’s hindsight but I wish we, the board, had taped your presentation to us and the homeowners last Saturday. Working for Safeco Insurance Company for 39+ years I have listened to a lot of presentations in workshops, sales meetings, formal meetings including yearly presentations from various Safeco Presidents e.g. year end results, bonus information to all employees. I think your overview (memory lane) was outstanding and one of the best I have ever heard. It was clear, concise, factual and above all honest and sincere!! Your talk motivated me to do a better job for our homeowners. I feel all board members now appreciate your overall plan and bottom-line results. I just wish more homeowners were present to hear your presentation – their loss. In closing I believe you gave the board a tad more credit than we may have deserved. I’m glad Don McKay acknowledged he just followed your suggestions about the final important email not backing down but staying with the dollar amount we needed. Thank again.”
Don Malone, SPCA Board Member
“Former construction defense attorney with a passion for righting what’s wrong!”
Terry R. Eggert
“You took on our case when no one else would. You attended almost every Board and Homeowner meeting held over the course of 18 months without complaint. You are a blessing. Thank you for a wonderful result. If anyone ever questions your abilities to ‘get the job done’, please have them call me! “
Donna Adams, Board President, Blueberry Place
Thanks for doing an amazing job. If you ever need a referral just let me know. I would be happy to provide one.
Greg Prendergast, Member GMP Homes
“Damn fine attorney who ‘Got it Done!’”
Jim Lewis

“Chris and Staff:
Thanks for your legal support – best ever! We appreciated working with you.”
Joan Baird, Yehle Park Homeowner
“Chris – just thought you’d appreciate knowing you were a “hit” at our meeting on Saturday. After the meeting, several homeowners expressed how pleased they were we had found you. You were described as direct, knowledgeable, likeable, organized and confident. You left a very good impression on the group overall. Thanks for a great presentation to the homeowners.”
Kathie Gruskin, Sinclair Condominiums
“Thanks for all your attention… My Daughter and family are so happy with your performance, and they are no longer stressed since you guys came on the scene.”
John Richardson, Board Member Shadowhawk Condominiums
“Chris, I am sure I speak for all the homeowners who attended Saturday’s BBQ, and the Board, in thanking you and Selena for such a lovely afternoon. The burgers and hot dogs were delicious ….. you’re a good Chef!!! thanks also for the dates on the building situation and answering questions.”
Lin, Bellagio Owners Association
Thank you so much for your fine work and victory on behalf of my daughter.
John Richardson, Board Member Shadowhawk Condominiums
“I want to pass Laura and my great appreciation to Casey Law for all of your great work and dedication to our problem! You’ve really made a difference in our lives here!”
Tony Baker, Westview Homeowner
“Chris, I want to thank you so very much for all your hard work and many hours that you spent for our Association. You have made our Association and our owners so much better off now than they ever were living at Sundance Park. I want to thank you for working with me and the Board during the last three years; you are a champ and a winner and if you ever need a reference, I’m here to do that for you. We picked the right law group to go to bat for us.”
Mike Michaels, SPCA Board Member
“Casey, you really made points with me today. How? Because you showed……guts…imagination and unselfishness!”
Don McKay, SPCA Board Member in response to settlement negotiations
“Chris, your extensive experience with building construction and water infiltration problems gave us a lot of confidence throughout our litigation. Your advice and efforts enabled us to settle our claims most satisfactorily. You went the extra mile….
We are very pleased with the results and we would be happy to be quoted as your reference.”
Margaret Kwan, Manager/Owner, 2nd Street LLC
“Chris, you and your team have inspired a level of confidence in us not experienced with our client’s prior relationships with some of the larger, multipurpose law firms we have worked with prior to working with Casey Law. Your litigation of the Illumina Apartments project (East Apartments LLC v. Global Construction LLC General Contractors and Mastro Properties) exceeded our expectations and we look forward to working with you on the eight additional apartment buildings owned by our clients. Please feel free to use us as a reference.”
Bill Austin, Vice President, Epic Asset Management
“Remco completed all the initial construction repair items plus other items that were identified during the repair process. Remco’s service was excellent and Dave Jensen the site foreman did a super job coordinating with Shadow Hawk 2 Board members and the residents. Litigation funds were also used for the following:
A) Waste water pump in the gulley area – improper construction required a new pump and installation of a riser.
B) Power washed the exterior of all buildings and car ports.
C) Cleaned all the windows.
D) Provided $3,000.00 compensation to each homeowners for internal repairs.
E) The remaining $310,000.00 was put into the Association’s reserve fund.Needless to say the homeowners are extremely satisfied.”
Jim Dungan, Shadowhawk Treasurer
“Chris, as the purchaser and owner of numerous multifamily apartment buildings in Washington, my partners and I have had an opportunity to work with some of Seattle’s finest attorneys working for the largest and most “prestigious” law firms. I am glad we found you. You and your firm have exceeded our expectations. Being novices in the field of construction defect litigation, you took as much time as we needed to explain the process to us, A to Z, including a litigation strategy we were able to understand and that, in the end, proved successful beyond our expectations. Thank you.”
Yuan Zhang, Owner, Lake City Apartments

I have been to a lot of membership meetings over the years, but I can say unequivocally that yours was the BEST! Your presentation and the interaction between you and the attendees were unbelievable. “Ace Up Your Sleeve”
“I like Chris Casey and I want to “have his baby” (Sorry, I have teenagers, figure of speech). Chris puts an emphasis on something that is so commonly overlooked in property management that I think should be a crime. I have worked in the Seattle market for nearly 25 years as a maintenance tech, then tech team coordinator, then Seattle area project manager doing condo conversions, then a general contractor, then a certified home inspector and now I run maintenance on 1000+ units for a BRE. Through all my experiences, the one common factor that puts assets at risk is specific items of deferred maintenance which leads to water intrusion which ultimately leads to mold, lawsuits and litigation. PREVENTION = INSPECTIONS! Chris made that very clear and that’s why I think he is a stand up guy.”
